A letter to Jerry Odom
Dear Mr. Odom
I recently saw one of your youtube videos, and immediately my heart swelled with a multitude of emotions. First, (and unfortunately, quite tellingly) sorrow, at how difficult political systems of our day have made it for the common man to be elected. Second, pride, pride in my species, pride that even when dishonesty, corruption, and selfishness have run amok, the honest are not only still in existence, but willing to fight for what they believe in, even against difficult odds to save their counties. Third, and most importantly, I felt hope. Hope that more and more people are like you, more and more people are coming to believe that the common man is indeed able to run the government, that we do not need a class of well-off, well-educated people telling us how government works, that it is time for real people to have real power, and bring real progress to their societies. You sir,are a valiant, modern-day hero, and ten times the patriot any of the main-stream media "front-runner" candidates. I am not an American citizen myself, so there is little I can do to support you, beyond saying that my heart goes out to you, along with my hopes for a better tomorrow.
I would like to make a suggestion to you, however. That suggestion is that you should attempt to court Ron Paul as your vice-presidential running-mate. From what I have read, the two of you have very similar views in several key areas. While the two of you do differ, I beleive a compromise policy between his libertarianism and your common-sense, people-first policy could make for a powerful message. That ticket would also combine his political experience with your working-class, common man appeal. Beyond that, both of you have a strong anti-establishment message which could draw from much of the spectrum. A combination between people-power and constitutionalism which the two of you could bring would be quite a dynamic combination, I think. You would also inherit a massive fund raising apparatus, and devoted supporters. It is just a thought, probably an unlikely one due to the differences that do exist between the two of you.
Sir, once again I must say with the most absolute earnestly and compassionate love, that you are a soldier fighting on the side of justice, honesty, and hope. The lines have been drawn Mr. Odom, and you Sir are a soldier on the right side of the struggle. Soon will come the day when the Everyman is given his due, when you and me, and our neighbors take control of our destiny, and take control of our government. Long gone are the days when we need a class of rich people running our society, we are now ready to rule ourselves, after all the rich have done an excellent job teaching us what not to do.
Fortune favors the bold, let us hope too that it favors the just. More power to you.
Sincerely,
Daniel
