My name is Jerry Odom.
You may not know me, so let me tell you a little about myself.
I was born in a small Midwest town called Dodge City, Kansas.
I am a happily married Christian Caucasian male, 39 years old, as well as a father.
I have been married (first and only) for over 10 years, to a wonderful woman, her name is Alexandra and she is also my best friend as well as my wife.
We have a 2 year old little girl named Natalie who is our pride and joy.
I also have 2 brothers and a sister.
While we do live in our own home, we don't have a big house, and like most families we have 2 cars. Just the “necessities”, that's it.
My Background:
While I did graduate from High School, I am self educated thru life experience, and, the need for continued education in my chosen field of expertise, the technology industry. I have had experience in the myriad types of jobs that usual Americans pursue when they are first starting out, but I found that I did best in the technology field, applying logic and solving complex problems others were not able to. I am driven to excel at what ever I do.
I have been an Infrastructure Engineer and Leader in the technology field for over 10 years. So I know how to solve problems and how to get the right results with clear, concise, logical thinking. Who better to fix a broken infrastructure than someone who fixes broken infrastructures daily for a living? The size and problem is irrelevant. It’s a simple solution to a major problem; the current way is not working, so we must offer new solutions to fix it.
I also have been a successful Business owner.
I started a retail business with only $75 in the bank on opening day, which I diligently and successfully worked and managed, allowing me to prosper, then expand, from that 1st location and grow into 3 retail locations, with sheer determination and hard work.
That is what our country needs in our next President; the ability to get things done, even under the worst kind of circumstances, without politics, without excuses, but with the ability to work with others and to unite them all under one common goal, The Red, White, and Blue of America… a United People.
I am also an American who has seen too much negligence and inaction from our current leadership. This inaction has brought us to a disgraceful level, and we are now at a point we don’t want to be in. I have grown tired of asking “Why aren’t our leaders doing anything about this?” Realizing that change has to start somewhere, and only comes with hard work and the desire to make the changes needed, I am now tasking myself to try and do something about these problems with the intent to turn us back in the right direction, to get us away from the point that we are at, for the betterment of all Americans and our future generations.
As a Father I can not, and will not, leave these problems for my daughter’s generation to fix, because I do not want to have to explain to her that the reason we could not solve these and other basic problems is because we as a people could not come together even at this point in our history, to solve our greatest problems during our greatest time of need.
We need someone with vision, heart, and a passion for action. Someone who truly understands what the real problems are in everyday American’s lives. Someone who has the backbone, fortitude, integrity, and, is not obligated to “Big Business” or lobbyists for favors or “donations” that require some of the other candidates to ask if they are allowed to make changes instead of just fixing the problem the right way, while protecting the people, instead of the “special interest” groups.
We must break the bond between big business and Government
I am a true working class American Citizen. I also intend to be the first non-politically driven, working class President. I will remain to be people orientated and goal driven, which is unlike anything we have seen in several generations. I seek to run for the office of the President of the United States of America, in the 2008 Presidential election as an Independent, to give the American people a choice for someone other than who the media machines or the lobbyists have decided should be our choices, a chance to elect real change this time, and independence from this corrupt and ineffective system of government we now have to deal with, and those same lobbyists deciding who is “viable” to run.
I seek to give the people a choice like they have not had in several generations, one of their own.... Since I am not politically driven or financially motivated, I just want to correct as many of the problems as I can, and to prove that point I make this promise:
“I will donate the remainder of the salary that I will receive as your President (after expenses) to charity, not because I am rich, far from it, but because I (and most Americans) don’t need that much money to provide a decent living for our family.”
My guarantee and pledge to the American people:
To Change the current Policy which focuses on these “special interests”, and focusing on putting Education, Illegal Immigration, Health Care, and what America and Americans need to the forefront! These are the main issues that need to be addressed to begin improving the quality of the American way of life, and must be fixed!
All my life I felt like I was meant to do something great, when I announced to my friends that I would be entering and running for the Presidency, their response was not that of shocked amazement, it was just accepted like they were expecting it. But now the time has come to prove it. Will you stand with me on this mission fix all the broken aspects of our great nation? The fact is a greater destiny awaits all us.
My Political Experience: NONE, Let’s take look at this concept.
Politics have gotten in the way of future yet again. These politicians spend more time debating what should be non issues or problems than they do trying to solve them. It is time to put aside this policy and start listening to the will of the people. After all, “the people” are America.
Remember this quote:
“America is the most energetic, resourceful, and innovative nation on the planet.”
Can we still say that now?
What most of us see in today’s society are problems in every aspect of our daily life, in a nation that was built on the concept “of the people”, not “big government;” We have a nation being torn apart by big businesses, government corruption, too much politics, failing infrastructure, unfettered illegal immigration, a failing economy, too many American deaths at home and abroad, a broken.. no, more like an education system in crisis, and out of control Health care costs. Should I keep going, or do you get the point?
With all this going on, what is being done about this? Nothing, just endless chatter and broken promises, more debates and more rhetoric. Just a clue.. This is not how to solve the problems we have.. Being a leader also means taking action when there is none.
This is what years of experienced politician have brought to us. Do you want more of this or are you not tired of their game of musical chairs with the same kind people? Every 4 years, this is not progress, it's more like regression. We should always move forward not backwards!
We must realize that our success as a country means keeping our jobs and protecting our citizens. If we can’t do this and protect the foundation on which it is built, we will fail to be a nation. Having laws you don’t enforce is meaningless, and useless.
It time to fight for our very way of life, and for our children’s future. Fixing all of our major problems here at home should be our main focus.
Some Questions you may ask.
Am I qualified to be President? - I leave that to YOU, the people, to decide.
Can, and will, I listen to the people? - Yes, that is what this is all about!
Am I Passionate about what I do? - Absolutely
Will I defend American Civilization? – Unequivocally, Yes.
Can I Make logical common sense decisions based on the needs of Americans people? -Yes
Is to too late? - No this is a myth; we still have a little time, remember that Independents don't go by Republican or Democrat party rules.
Do I have a Plan and a good vision for America? - Yes see my Vision Statement in the “Issues” Section..
Are my ideas realistic? – Yes, nothing I have described is out of reach.
Am I part of the current establishment in Washington DC? - NO
Will I listen to lobbyist and Big Business? - NO
Do I have all the answers? – NO, but I know how to find them with you.
Have I made moderate mistakes in the past? – Yes, I am human, but I did learn from them also.
Can I work with congress to pass good meaningful legislation, while putting the will of the people first? – Yes, every day until all my work is done.
Why don’t I work my way up though the ranks in Washington D.C? - Refer to the statements above. The system is broke and we don’t have the time for that, nor am I interested in becoming a professional Politician, we have major problems that are not getting fixed, and we need solutions to our problems NOW. We need a clear thinking problem solver NOW. I am sick and tired of the trend to leaving these problems for the next generation to solve. We must solve them NOW, Before it is too late and we all have look back and ask what happened.
What makes me different than other Politicians? - The Key word here is Politician. I am not, nor have I even been, a politician. I don’t think like they do. I have a “can do” attitude, which carries thru to actually getting it done, nor am I part this current superfluous bureaucracy since I am not politically driven, financially motivated, or for sale. I don’t crave the dollar like they do, I understand the need for the dollar, and all that the dollars propose, as well as it’s place in American Society, but that is as far is it goes with me. In fact, my motivation is simply to prove that our problems can be solved with logic and common sense, and to prove that someone like me can win, and actually get things done. Then I hope I set an example for all the others follow. My perspective is this; once I am elected, and I follow thru and actually do what I say, people will start to have faith in the elected officials again; this in turn will set an expectation for my predecessors, which you, the people, will know to demand action from, and not accept mediocrity. See this not about me, it’s about an idea. “Men can be killed, but an idea can never die.” I don’t even plan on running for a second term, unless I need to. That way if problems occur later with one of my predecessors, I can get back in office to fix them again if the need arises. Because I will be such a good President of the people, for the people, I will always be remembered for how much I accomplished in only 4 short years, and this again will become a benchmark for future Presidents.
So… Could I be President?
The answer is yes, as could most Americans. But it is a thankless job from what I can tell. You have to want it for the right reasons. To be an affective leader you must have a passion and vision, be true in your convictions, as well as listen to the people and be able to deliver what is asked of you, putting the needs of the people above that of your own. I can do all of that.
Most will discount me because the media play me as young (being 39) and “a politically inexperienced Dreamer.” Well my dream is to provide a better future for all American families including my own. Somehow I have the feeling that million of others share the same dream. Also Imagine an America where we all actually work together towards a common goal. The reality is this is very possible. Just remember this fact; America was built on dreams, and our colorful history is full men and women that defied the odds to realize a vision.. Imagine if George Washington gave up the dream of winning against England. Imagine if the Wright brothers gave up on their dream of flight. What if we, as a country, gave up on the dream of going to outer space or sending a man to the moon? The list could go on, but I know that you get the point. Now, more than ever, it is time we look past their statements, and defy this establishment, we must look challenge what we are being told and seek the truth, our future depends on it. Remember this quote and what it means: “The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country” RP. We NEED younger people in our system of government. I would like to see a younger crowd in office, ones that are familiar with the advances that we have made and realize that we are no longer in the 60’s or 70’s and realize that we need to continue to grow, instead of being stagnant. I encourage you all, just go out and do it, run for an office! If you want to bring change, then why not let it start with you? That’s the American sprit.
I stand on the edge of this precipice with a solution, “a people’s president.” Politics have gotten in the way of our future. “We the people” is not supposed to be a political catch phrase; it means that we will no longer sit on the side lines while these politicians are destroying everything that is great about America. “We the people” must, and can, prevail. “We the people” is the true meaning of power, because it is our money that gives these political elites their power in the first place. We should always remember that. We are a proud people and we are not for sale, we are Americans, our votes can carry more weight than any dollar amount…
It is time for an awaking in America, to remove the political blinders that you mistakenly believe drive you to vote strictly for your party. Your party no longer exists for your benefit. The Parties exist solely for the survival and advancement of their organizations, and their attempts to control our government. A vote for either major parties presidential candidate is a vote for continuing that stranglehold on each and every one of us. It's time to say, "Enough!" It's time to vote for an independent candidate with no political ties, political debts, or commitments to industry or party bosses. America needs someone who can make common sense decisions without biased outside influence making those decisions for him or her. Someone who can work for the people of America and the future of our great country
CHANGE
Without change there can be no breakthrough.
Without breakthrough there can be no future.
There is no force more powerful than a determined people!
Now is the time, as destiny waits!
.Some believe that the 2008 election will decide the very fate of America. It is true that America is at a crossroad, and facing more challenges and more threats to its future than ever before. Let’s not let these problems divided us, we must stand united and strong. Every time you feel down, look to your kids and think about their futures...
I find that it amazing that action or inaction in this case, of so few has had such a disastrous outcome for so many. I also find it hard to believe that the future is already written, we should seek to have a future that will be ours, one with renewed family values, Better Education, and Security for all Americans. This is why we must change our path now and restore the American family values. It is not too late to repair the damage! Now is the time for us to take a different road, this is the only way to guarantee the future of all of America and our children. The path I propose is one of Action. It will require that all Americans work together to put aside conventional thinking to achieve a real result, which is a solid American future. |
